It’s National Cappuccino Day – Brew it up!

It’s NATIONAL CAPPUCCINO DAY – November 8: http://nationaldaycalendar.com/national-cappuccino-day-october-8/
(But what’s with everyone thinking they can be a FOAM designer? Smh.)

November 8 is National Cappuccino Day!

A cappuccino (/ˌkæpʉˈtʃiːnoʊ/; Italian pronunciation: [kapputˈtʃiːno]) is an Italian coffee drink which is traditionally prepared with espresso, hot milk and steamed milk foam.
“The word cappuccino comes from the Capuchin friars and is the diminutive form of cappuccio in Italian, meaning hood or something that covers the head. This popular coffee beverage got it’s name not from the hood on their habits but from the color of the hooded robes that the friars wore. (The Capuchin friars is an Order of friars in the Catholic Church, among the chief offshoots of the Franciscans.)

In 1945 Achille Gaggia invented the modern espresso machine which further popularized the cappuccino.

Mid 1990′s – Cappuccino was made more widely available to North Americans as upscale coffee houses sprang up.

Late 1990′s to Early 2000′s – Cappuccinos became popular in the United States concurrent with the boom in the American coffee industry.

Start of 21st Century – A modified short-cut version of the cappuccino started being served at fast-food chains.

While steaming the milk you must pay close attention to attain the correct ratio of foam, thus making the cappuccino one of the most difficult espresso-based beverages to make properly.

A skilled barista may create artistic shapes while he/she is pouring milk on top of the espresso coffee.

More WAYS TO CELEBRATE from NBC HERE.

To the rest of you, enjoy.

Isn’t it ironic? Holocaust letter on Hitler’s personal stationary by my jewish grandfather goes viral.

Unlike the song by Alanis Morisette, this really IS ironic.

During WWII, my jewish grandfather wrote home to my grandmother on Hitler’s Stationary.

Why? Because “F**k you Hitler” – that’s why!

I used to play with his trunk from the war when i was little, which included a helmet and a pack of cigarettes. (Those are the only items I remember).  It sat in our basement forever until my mom sent it to my uncle almost 20 years ago.

The Miami Herald picked up on the story after my uncle contacted the Holocaust museum in D.C. to donate the letter, among other items.

Enjoy!

#NeverForget

CLASSIC.

Yes, I’m still here…

PIC THAT MAKES ME LAUGH TODAY:

Yes, I know.  My postings are somewhat of a rarity lately, but I am trying to work on that 🙂

Scorpio:

Be honest with yourself that a mistake you made recently is your own fault. Think about your motives for doing what you did, and don’t convince yourself that you’re in the right before you give yourself some time to analyze your behavior. The only way you can move on from this is if you fess up.

YEAH, no. I always make mistakes, but most of the time I don’t remember them!!!

Good advice? or Wishful thinking?

So is this good advice?

So is this good advice?

As you may have realized from my FB posts, Twitter updates and such (left side of the page – subscribe!!), I LOVE graphics, memes and life.

Soon my gallery will be completed, as soon as I figure out HOW lol!!

So what do YOU think about the advice in this “motivational” image?

Personally, I think it’s wishful thinking 🙂

Scorpio – January 18, 2013

Stay out of trouble, and don’t look for it either. You may be feeling a little impish today, and you would like to have a little revenge on the people who get under your skin. You will most certainly get drawn into a drama of your own creation, however, so it’s best to be good.

See Friendship

NOTE: If you have no clue about this feature on FaceBook, read this article first. Or this one.

Sickest thing about Facebook – the “See Friendship” feature.

It’s like your PAST poking you in the EYE with a STICK!

It shows you (and possibly anyone who cares to look, not too sure) the entire FB friendship between yourself and another person – which could be cool – EXCEPT:

What if you no longer TALK to that person?

Or you just had a bad break-up (stalk(ed) much?)

UGH!

Of course (surprise, surprise) I found it by clicking ‘See Friendship’ while mooning over my “on-break” other half’s page. I admit it.

However, I will NOT be visiting again – how sad is it to look at the timeline of a past relationship? Or one that is not so stable at the moment?

Having a graphical reminder of every FB interaction we ever had, including photos, messages – EVERYTHING!

I’m talking photos we’re both tagged in, wall posts and comments between us, events we both RSVP’d to, and our mutual friends and Likes.

Curiosity killed the cat – well, I feel as though I just took that cat and watched as it was born; as it frolicked and played as a kitten; as it grew older and more distant; and then…ended. Nothing.

“See Friendship” = Curiosity = Dead Cat.

Why not just tattoo this onto my forehead:

Yup, right here.

Yup. This girl. Right here.

Yeah, so – “See Friendship” feature? Go take a hike. Without shoes. On rocky shores.

There is a cliff there BTW, just sayin’.

10 Lessons from Einstein

1. Follow Your Curiosity “I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.”

2. Perseverance is Priceless “It’s not that I’m so smart; it’s just that I stay with problems longer.”

3. Focus on the Present “Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves.”

4. The Imagination is Powerful “Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions. Imagination is more important than knowledge.”

5. Make Mistakes “A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.”

6. Live in the Moment “I never think of the future – it comes soon enough.”

7. Create Value “Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.”

8. Don’t be repetitive “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

9. Knowledge Comes From Experience “Information is not knowledge. The only source of knowledge is experience.”

10. Learn the Rules and Then Play Better “You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.”
